What is the best time to exercise according to science?
« on: December 07, 2022, 10:39:17 PM »
Without a doubt, mornings, before you eat in a fasted state has the most benefits! In the morning we naturally have elevated levels of cortisol and growth hormone which both are involved in metabolism, so you’ll use more of your energy from your fat reserves = burning more fat! One study found that a morning fasted cardio session increased 24-hour fat oxidation by 50%.

We all know exercise in general is a good stress reliever so another benefit of doing it early morning is it sets your brain and mood positively for the day ahead!

Lets not forget muscle! Fasted training augments the anabolic response, the ability of muscles to take up protein and get bigger and stronger!

Checkout this study that found athletes who lifted weights in the morning before eating had an augmented anabolic response to a post-workout protein/ carb shake over athletes who lifted weights after breakfast.

For nearly 20 years I have done some form of exercise before I eat breakfast, I eat during a 6 hour window and fast for the other 18hrs, The last 3 days of every month, without fail I fast - 72hrs - and I continue to workout!
