Walking is one of the best ways for anyone to stay active and burn body fat. My favorite thing about walking is that you can do it even when you're recovering from an injury, young or old, it's for everyone. I was amazed at the number of people I saw walking in the morning, lunch and evening. I think I've been writing and preaching about walking as a low-impact cardio exercise for years. It has never let me down, and as the trend continues to grow, I assume others feel the same way.

Why go after eating? Walking after eating can improve digestion. If you eat a lot, walking will help reduce pressure on your stomach. It also stimulates the stomach and intestines to move food faster. I've found that a good walk after breakfast helps to empty more quickly. If you ever want to go to the bathroom, it sure helps to go for a walk!

Not only will you get these digestive and intestinal benefits, but you'll also protect against ailments like IBS, heartburn, ulcers, and colon cancer. For simple longevity goals, your exercise of choice might be walking around the block a few times a day. Reduce insulin spikes

My mother has diabetes and one of the things she uses to control her blood sugar is to walk after eating. It's less prominent in her life now because of cancer, but she still manages to get out when her energy levels are higher and benefits from this simple workout in more ways than one. Exercising after eating can prevent more pronounced spikes in blood sugar, which can help eliminate or reduce the amount of insulin or other oral medications needed. Walking is good but can sometimes cause minor negative issues. I don't pay too much attention to it, but just use your intuition at this point and leave it at that.

People with sensitive stomachs may have trouble moving food after eating. This may cause you some discomfort and cause gas. The best option is to wait at least 10-20 minutes after eating before going for a walk. I like to wait 1 hour before going for a walk. I have a sensitive stomach and have had bad GI symptoms.
