A scientist named William Frey has researched tears for about 15 years. At the end of the research he said:
"Aqueous fluid is no ordinary substance. It is a complex mixture of water, mucus, oil, electrolytes.

If the tears were just water, it would dry out the eyes and burn them due to friction. If the temperature is zero degrees in winter, the water would freeze and freeze!
